Printed layer by layer.
Designing my own next.

This is Luke's 3D printing build log. He prints standout designs from the community on a Bambu Lab X1-Carbon with AMS and credits every designer. Next up: his own parts, modeled in Onshape with help from Claude.

Process

From idea to finished part.

How Luke's own designs get made: five steps, and the last one loops back to the first until the part fits and works.

  1. Define

Pick a problem worth solving. Measure everything with calipers and sketch it.

  2. Model

Build the part in CAD, working through dimensions and tolerances with Claude.

  3. Slice

Set layer height, walls, infill, and supports in Bambu Studio. Assign AMS colors.

  4. Print

The X1-Carbon checks its first layer with lidar, then prints the part.

  5. Iterate

Test the fit, measure again, adjust the model, and reprint until it's right.

About

Built by Luke.

Luke is a maker who likes turning ideas into real objects. He prints in his own workshop and is learning to design his own parts in Onshape, with Claude as a design partner for the tricky bits.

This is his 3D printing build log. Projects go up here as they're finished, including the ones that took a few tries to get right.
